Arrival Questions the Way We Construct Reality

Arrival raises the fascinating notion that the structure of our language has a direct influence on the way we perceive the world. The way we communicate influences the way we construct reality.

Because our language is linear — with one word following another — we perceive time as linear. But, if we communicated entire thoughts all at once, we would be freed from a conception of time as linear; we would be freed from time itself.
